AWARD empowers marginalized rural communities by promoting equality, social justice, and sustainable development through education, livelihoods, and community-led initiatives
Ambedkar Welfare Academy for Rural Development (AWARD) is a registered Civil Society Organisation established in 2008 with a commitment to promote inclusive, equitable, and sustainable rural development. Registered under the Andhra Pradesh Public Societies Registration Act, 2001, AWARD works at the regional level with a strong focus on underserved and marginalized communities.
Inspired by human values and social justice, AWARD strives to create peaceful and empowered communities where people—irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or language—can live with dignity and equal opportunity. The organisation actively works for the upliftment of the poor, underprivileged, women, children, youth, elderly, and persons with disabilities, especially in rural areas.
AWARD implements integrated development programmes in the areas of education, health, livelihood promotion, women and child welfare, youth empowerment, environmental protection, skill development, and community capacity building. Special emphasis is placed on enabling rural youth to identify and access opportunities for economic empowerment and self-reliance.
Operating across several districts of Telangana, AWARD collaborates with government agencies, local institutions, and community groups to strengthen grassroots participation and support long-term development outcomes. Through its holistic approach, AWARD continues to work towards building resilient, self-sustaining, and socially just rural societies.
Conducted an awareness program on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities to highlight the importance of dignity, inclusion, and equal rights for persons with disabilities. The program focused on creating awareness about accessibility, education, health care, and social protection. Community members, volunteers, and stakeholders participated and expressed their support for inclusive development. The event encouraged families and society to stand beside persons with disabilities and ensure equal opportunities. Through this initiative, AWARD reaffirmed its commitment to building an inclusive, just, and empowered society.
Organized an Awareness Program on STI and HIV to educate youth and community members about prevention, health care, and safe practices. Supported by the Telangana AIDS Control Society, the program aimed to reduce stigma and promote awareness on early testing and treatment. The session highlighted the importance of knowledge, responsible behavior, and access to health services. Students, volunteers, and local representatives actively participated in the program. The event strengthened community awareness and encouraged healthy and informed lifestyles.
On International Volunteer Day, AWARD conducted a vibrant community rally to recognize the dedication, commitment, and invaluable contributions of volunteers. The rally highlighted the spirit of service, compassion, and collective responsibility towards building a better society. Participants came together to spread awareness about the importance of volunteerism in addressing social challenges and uplifting marginalized communities. The event also motivated youth and community members to actively participate in nation-building initiatives.
